Well, we
made it back to Zion by 8:30 am and found us a spot in the South
Campground. The narrow road that winds
through the campground is one lane, but paved.
There are several pull thru spots so it will be easy in and out. The first thing Jim saw when we pulled into our
spot was a deer in the brush right in front of us.
Wow! We just
got back after taking a drive across the park.
The scenery is awesome. The road
across the park is a narrow but well maintained two lane road. We saw quit a few motor homes driving the
road, but I am glad we took the jeep.
I’m not sure I would have done very well as the road had a ton of
switchbacks and a rather long, dark tunnel to drive through.
We saw a long horned mountain sheep standing
on the edge of the road. He did a good job of tying up traffic, with everyone
stopping to take pictures. We got a
great close up of him unfortunately just as Jim snapped the picture he turned
his head away.
Another I am glad we took the jeep is there are many little pull
offs along the road that would not fit a MH.
We stopped at one pull off and hiked down into a narrow gorge. It was great, about eight or so feet wide,
with a rock strewn bottom and sandstone walls towering a couple hundred feet
straight up over our heads.
