Second Trip into The Grand Canyon June 14, 2013

We didn't get enough of the Gran Canyon on the first trip in, so when we saw we would be near the east entrance as we headed up to the Navajo Nation we decided it was definitely worth another look.

On the way up we passed by the Little Colorado River and stopped to have a look. Even that was impressive.

On to the Grand Canyon....

Our first stop was a watch tower that was built in the 1930's

Jim at the watch tower

The watch tower was three stories high and this is the view from one of the top windows.

Our camera doesn't do justice to the beautiful colors.

Looking along the Canyon

Wish I were in better shape.  There are many trails you can hike down to the bottom of the canyon. I would get down but would never make it back up.

There are a lot of fires in Colorado right now and even as far away as we are, it has caused the views to be a little hazy.

Here I am again as close to the edge as I'm going to get.  Sally, Notice the straps? We are making good use of the backpack.

Jim has no fear of getting close to the edge.

You can see the rapids in the Colorado River in this view.
